This lovely property needs no introduction as it’s well known and well-loved as a holiday destination.
The farm is 45. 57 Ha in size and lies in a separate little glen in the Langkloof between Joubertina and Krakeel. The place is off the beaten track and not visible from the R62 at all, yet it’s close enough to schools and all other amenities.
The farm lies at the foot of the Tsistikamma mountains and there are gorgeous views in all directions. The main house is a lovely traditional farmhouse (can benefit from a little modernisation) that has kept its original charm. The place has everything one wants, original architecture, beautiful views, an excellent amount of water from 3 different sources, a mature garden, privacy, a great vibe and various incomes.
To the South of this very
special property lies a nature reserve and there is excellent birdlife to seen. 81 different bird species have been spotted and it’s also home to a swallow colony and the cape dwarf chameleon.
Buildings on the farm include the following:
• The main house:
4 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, pantry, bathroom and an enclosed veranda.
• Double garage
• Large barn
• Campsite with ablution facilities
• Guest cottage 1:
Sleeps 6 people
• Guest cottage 2:
Sleeps 6 people
• Guest cottage
Sleeps 4 people
• Stone barn (needs renovation)
• 2 workers cottages (needs renovation)
The guest cottages are equipped with basic solar electricity as well gas- fridges , stoves and geysers.
Each cottage has a small “splashpool” (converted water tank) to cool off in during the hot summer months as well as an undercover braai area. The mainhouse has Escom electricity.
There is a lovely picnic spot with a swimming pool as well as a lapa 60 m from the guest cottages and the dams are stocked with bass, fishing being one of the favourite passtimes for many of the guests.
• Orchards:
The farm has 10 163 fruit trees of various varieties that are managed and harvested by an outside party on behalf of the owner. Feel free to contact me for the figures of the orchards, guest cottages and Watsonias.
• Fruit trees:
• Packham- and Beary Bosch pear: 3 184 trees
• Peaches: 1 680 trees
• Plumbs: 5 299 trees
• Watsonia bulbs: 20 000
In addition to the above the farm is in the process of receiving certification for mineral water (from the fountain) and fruit juice processing.
• Water:
• Borehole yields an excellent 12 000 litres per hour
• A fountain replenishes the dams
• Irrigation 129 759 m3 per year
• Storage capacity: 26 217 m3
• 2 dams as well as a water reservoir
This farm has so much additional potential to be harnessed. The mineral water and fruit juice plant can serve as exiting new business ventures and the holiday accommodation business can certainly be expanded by renovating the unrenovated cottages seeing as the place is well established in terms of holiday accommodation.
Whether you’re looking to buy a good business as well as a home or whether you’re just trying to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is an excellent working farm that will serve as your soul-home and generate income at the same time. If you’re not into farming and business, one can simply revert the farm into a lifestyle farm. If you’re looking to retire, a farm manager can be employed to run the place while you focus on relaxing and enjoying the finer things in life.
