Excellent Karoo farm with irrigation
This area is perfectly suited for the farming of Merino sheep and Angora goats. Its location, featuring plains and gentle slopes, offers a picturesque view of Tandjiesberg, complemented by the Melk River, which flows through the property for approximately 3.8 kilometers. The Melk River has three springs and one weir. There is also earth dams on the property. The layout and surroundings contribute to the farm's accessibility, facilitating easy management.
The property spans approximately 1682.5 hectares and receives an average annual rainfall of 270 mm. The official carrying capacity is 14 hectares per large stock unit (LSU) on the land. Elevation varies between approximately 550 and 640 meters above sea level.
The vegetation consists of sweetveld
interspersed with thorn tree clearings and “randjies veld”.
The 21 hectares of land are irrigated with water supplied by two boreholes, providing 70,000 liters per hour together. Both boreholes are powered by solar pumps. Additionally, there are other boreholes on the property that can be utilized for further expansion of irrigation.
The property is divided into eight camps, each equipped with a permanent water supply for livestock. The road network is well-developed, providing access to all areas and camps within the property.
The property features a four-bedroom house along with a one-bedroom apartment attached to it. Additionally, there is a separate one-bedroom apartment that includes a bathroom and kitchen. The outbuildings comprise a shearing shed, storage facilities, and covered areas. There are also pens equipped for livestock handling. A steel structure has been erected, currently utilized for storing lucerne. Inside one of the storage buildings, there is a cold room as well as a meat processing area. Situated nearby are three staff cottages.
The property is home to naturally occurring wildlife such as Kudu, Reedbuck, Steenbok, and Duikers. Additionally, there are approximately 80 Springbok present on the estate.
Electricity is supplied by Eskom.
Currently farming activities include Merino sheep and Angora goats farming as well as lucerne production.
