Nestling in the Bestervallei Valley, overlooking picturesque wetlands and the foothills of the Malutis on the Lesotho Border, lies the historic Union House Guest Farm, originally constructed in the 1870s.


Union House was beautifully reconstructed and restored in remembrance of the Anglo-Boer War. To commemorate peace between the Boers and British, two oak trees were planted on the front lawn to symbolize the Union between Afrikaans and English inhabitants, by President Brand of the Free State. In 1910 the Free State celebration of the Union of South Africa was held on this farm.
